Emmett Conway recently received a shock invitation to the Piping Live Festival to be held in Glasgow next week.
The 17-year-old will go head to head with pipers from New Zealand, Canada, Auustralia and Scotland at Glasgow’s Piping Centre.
The teenager, who works as an apprentice electrician with CMM electrics in Toome, said he was shocked and delighted to get the call.
“The competition is confined to 16 players from around the globe and as Northern Ireland’s only representative it is indeed an honour to get the invite,” he said.
Emmett is currently a member of Ballinderry Bridge Pipe Band, who are currently Ulster champions and have enjoyed success this year in London, Glasgow, Inverary and Limerick.
And with the World Pipe Championships being played out next week in Glasgow, the local piping fraternity will be there in force to give Emmett plenty of support.
Emmett will take centre stage at the Piping Centre next Thursday, August 14, at 3pm.
