Poem tribute to Padraig

‘A Hurling Legend’

Padráig Donnelly - 1994-2008

A Hurling Legend

Our all-star

Always focused

On putting the ball over the bar

A corner forward

Always quick on his feet

Ducking and weaving

Any rival he meets

In Cathal, Padráig, Patsy

Sparky and HP

He found great determination

To be the best hurler that he could be

Ballinascreen jersey

He was number thirteen

Worn with great pride

He was part of the team

His heartsome laugh

His cheeky smile

It’s hard to believe

That he’s gone for a while

A loyal friend

Energetic and cool

Popular both,

On the field and in school

A loving brother

So gentle and kind

A comical character

With a beautiful mind

A gorgeous son

The youngest of three

Sadly so young

From this land was set free

So now little Padráig

Friend, brother and son

Hurl above with the angels

And watch over everyone.
