Landmarks exhibition in Upperlands
A County Derry community group has launched a unique exhibition of models depicting local landmarks.
Upperlands Community Development Group hopes to attract visitors from across the country for the exhibition which kicks off this week.
The exhibition will feature the work of Upperlands native Dick Clarke who painstakingly recreated landmark buildings across the North.
The extensive display will include a model house, a Donegal thatched hamlet, Dunluce Castle and Portrush Railway Station.
One of the events organisers, Thompson Rodgers, urged members of the public to take in the exhibition.
“Dick had all these models that he made over the years,” he said. “But he was not able to look after them. The development group got a grant and bought the models and we now have them preserved. The last time we put the models on display they came from everywhere to see them and we would hope for the same turn out this time.
“The models should give much interest and enjoyment to those who come along. As a group we are pleased to welcome visitors to Upperlands.”
The exhibition will take place at the Linenhall Center, 67 Kilrea Road, Upperlands, from Saturday July 4 to Saturday July 11.
Suggested donations are £3 adults and £1.50 children. Refreshments and wheelchair access is provided. Opening times are Saturday July 4 to Friday July 10 daily from 2pm – 8pm and Saturday July 11 from 12noon to 5pm.
