One of the world’s biggest rock stars has revealed his County Derry connections.

Eagles bass player Timothy Schmit flew into Dungiven last week just days before the legends of rock played to a sell out Odyssey crowd.

Although born and brought up in Philadelphia, the rock star’s wife Jean has strong ties with the town.

Both her parents come from the area and set sail for a new life in America after they were married.

During a whistle-stop tour of the district last week the Eagles star forgot about the ‘Hotel California’ and instead spent several days with his wife’s cousin, All Ireland winner Brian McGilligan and his family.

Fed up with ‘life in the fast lane’, the rock star took time to unwind at Cashel Fisheries with the McGilligan family.

To reinforce his green credentials Schmit recently took out Irish citizenship.
