Special night in Draperstown
Posted online: Feb 1st, 2010
ONE of Ireland’s most distinctive musicians is coming to Draperstown this weekend.
Duke Special will host a special one-off gig in the town which has been organised to raise money for the efforts in coping with the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
Local music fans are being offered the chance to see the Belfast singer perform and help the charity efforts at the same time.
The gig in the Cellar Bar, which has been organised in association with the Glasgowbury festival, will take place on Friday night.
Support on the night will come from Derry’s newest electro two piece The Wonder Villains and Mid-Ulster’s own Silhouette.
It’s a non-ticket event and the night will operate strictly on a first come, first served basis and entry is set at £10.
Duke Special, whose real name is Peter Wilson, has built up an excellent reputation for the quality of his live performances.
In recent years, has supported acts such as Van Morrison, Crowded House and Snow Patrol, and in 2006 toured Ireland with the Beautiful South and Europe with the Divine Comedy
