A big-hearted group of farmers from the Drumsurn area have raised £5,750 for charity.

The group, which was set up in 2004, carry out fundraising for a number of different charities every year.

To date they have raised over £30,000 for various charities throughout Northern Ireland.

“Gelvin Farmers Group are proud of their annual fundraising reputation,” said group chairperson Eugene Lagan.

“And this year is no exception with a recent sponsored walk and dance organised in aid of ‘Revive’.” Revive has full charitable status and through fundraising event, flag days and donations, has raised over £500,000 for the unit.

The charity was set up in 1989 to provide new and improved facilities for the regional intensive care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital for patients, relatives and staff.

Dr Brian McCloskey, Consultant with the Royal Victoria Hospital, picked up the cheque from the group.

He said: “Revive could not continue to provide its much needed service if it were not for donations such as this.”

The Gelvin farmers Group would like to thank their members and supporters in particular the Canning family and the Pot Bar who made this fundraiser a real success.”
