Water boost for Draperstown
ALMOST £3m has been pumped into a water treatment plant in Draperstown.
Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) last week unveiled its new upgraded £2.9m Wastewater Treatment Works in the town.
NI Water Project Sponsor, Dermott McCurdy, welcomed the new works.
“The new Wastewater Treatment Works will provide an enhanced quality of service for our customers in the wider Draperstown area.
“We were keen to develop a site that would improve wastewater facilities, improve river water quality and meet environmental compliance standards.”
The Vice-Chairman of Magherafelt District Council, Councillor Paul McLean who was on site, said the development was a great boost for the local area,
“It is encouraging to see the investment that NI Water has put into the local system here in Draperstown.
“This new works will accommodate new development in the area and serve the local population well into the 21st century.”
The waterworks plant was completed in partnership with Maghera-based BSG Ltd, Mallusk company, Williams Industrial Services, and MWH, which is situated in Belfast.
