£300,000 boost for local homes

Homes in Claudy and Eglinton received a face lift recently after the Housing Executive installed new kitchens.
PK Murphy Construction Ltd were responsible for installing new kitchens in 55 Housing Executive homes.
The project which cost £277,000 included homes in Millpath in Eglinton and Desmond Avenue in Claudy.
Commenting on the completion of this project, Trevor Glenn, Operations Manager for PKM said: “The kitchens have been upgraded to an improved layout with new units and worktops from a range of colours and finishes. Electrical and plumbing installations have also been upgraded as part of the works.
“We continually endeavour to ensure that tenants and their families face as little disruption as possible during the works and our Customer Services Manager was available at all times to reassure tenants and deal with any queries or special circumstances.”
Housing Executive Assistant District Manager, Joanna O’Boyce, is delighted that the new kitchens have been installed.
She said: “It is extremely satisfying to see this investment in our homes in the Waterside, particularly when it means that so many tenants are benefitting from brand new kitchens. Our staff have worked closely with PKM and the tenants throughout the duration of the work.
PKM is experienced in working in occupied homes and is committed to achieving high quality workmanship and 100% satisfaction from our tenants.”
Mr James Devine, a tenant living in Desmond Avenue in Claudy is pleased with his new kitchen.
“My new kitchen is great, the worktops are all good quality and the standard of workmanship has been excellent,” he said.
