Big cycle raises charity cash

A group of County Derry men have used peddle power to raise over £1,700 for a worthy cause.
The men set off from the Castle in Dungiven last month and cycled the whole way to County Galway last month.
Foreglen men Paul O’Hara, Paul Duffy, John O’Hara and Christopher Duffy were joined by Loup man Joe McVey, Cathal McCloskey from Drum on the grueling trip to raise cash for the Chest Heart and Stroke Association.
Paul O’Hara says the going was tough at times.
He said: “We cycled from here to Sligo where we stayed there for the night and then we went on to Galway. It took about eight hours getting down to Sligo. Going through all the towns and countryside was a nice thing to do but the weather was against us and we got it hard at stages. I have to say we earned any of the money that came to us.
“We hope to do something again next year. We might go from one end of Ireland to the other. If we do something a bit bigger and get more people involved we might raise more money. We would like to thank everyone who helped us this year and sponsored us.”
