It was announced last week that two wards in the town at Coolessan and Enagh will gain from this essential funding.
The groups are among a total of five other organisations throughout the North that received funding.
The groups’ objectives include building community capacity and leadership, promote partnership working within and between communities, help improve local environments, develop intervention programmes for young people and encourage active participation of women with the funding they have received.
Catherine Farrimond, community development officer of Limavady borough council welcomed the funding, she said: “This is an excellent opportunity for collaborative working and this funding will make a real and positive difference to the people of both wards and the groups who provide such essential services.”
The project is made up of collaborative partnership between the community sector, Limavady borough council and supporting communities Northern Ireland.
The groups are also working in partnership with Groundwork, Northern Ireland to assist with the environmental project and it is understood that young people from the area will be involved in undertaking the major environmental project.
This funding will be used to implement a wide range of activities and programmes for young people, families and older people.
It is hoped that this injection of cash will benefit the entire community.
One of the recipients of the funding, Ursula McCreesh, project officer with roe valley residents association said: “This funding has created a great opportunity among the local community and it will provide a sense of ownership for local residents and also give young people a chance to become more involved in their local area.”
